Types of Activities / Descriptions (In Progress)

  • Transition from On Time / On Budget to delivering real business value.
  • Customer Satisfaction – Clear expectations, better communication and value centric deliverables will result in better relationships with customers. (Customer Journey Mapping)
  • KPI’s Driving Desired Outcomes – Metrics that are meaningful for all customers and stakeholders, shared in a clear and transparent way. Customer metrics will be public and demonstrate the value of OIT project management efforts.  Internal metrics will drive desired behaviors by highlighting successes, that they may be repeated and areas for improvement, to effect positive change. (NetSuite)
  • Shared Context –
  • Tools/Processes Implementation:
  • Roles/Responsibilities: OIT Product Manager and Project Manager Roles are clearly understood, regardless of business unit.  Expectations are the same across OIT; level of service, communication and delivered value are consistent and repeatable.
  • Project Classification: A common organization of OIT projects will exist.  The way we talk about projects, the way they are organized in relationship to other projects will be standardized.  Maturing our project management efforts require the ability to discuss project management efforts across OIT, not only in context of business units.
  • Repository – Body of OIT project management knowledge to become centralized across OIT, rather than within each business unit. Accountability for building and maintaining tools, and other content to be shared by all PDM’s and PM’s.
  • Training – As processes are established, training resources will be available. All PDM’s and PM’s will be trained in any processes and tools that have been standardized.  Refresher training will be made available to reinforce correct processes over time.  As business needs change, training will be updated to account for organizational change.

1-3 Year Initiatives

Strategic Business Alignment: OIT is dynamic and the PMO will keep our PM processes, KPI's and other important metrics in alignment.

  • Advance Decision Making: Quality data and metrics will help OIT to make better decisions as well as making it easier to predict future metrics.
  • Reduce Exposure to Risk: Better project execution reduces the risk to business impact.
  • Maximize Resource Utilization: Greater visibility into projects will allow us to maximize how resources are being allocated.
  • Best Practices: Establishing best practices and consistency in the PM disciplines will lead to repeatable success
  • Project Management Services: Provide project management services to groups that do not have dedicated project managers.
